ISO (International Organization for Standardization) has developed a series of international standards on environmental management. The Environmental Management and Environmental Auditing series were published in September 1996 (revised in November 2004). In Japan JISQ14001 was published as guidelines for environmental standards in October 1996 (revised in December 2004).
In an effort to respond to the recognized environmental standards, Daido Steel started the construction of a system using the Hoshizaki plant as a model, in September 1995. In August 1996 Daido Steel became the first company in the specialty steel industry to be certified, and the second after Nippon Steel Corporation in the iron and steel industry.
Daido Steel develops an implementation plan to respond to ISO 2015 revision. We'll adjust all of our plants to ISO 2015 revison by 2018. The entire Daido Steel Group will continue to promote certification activities.
